Working with longstanding client Destec Engineering, this project focused on revitalising their existing office and factory site in Lincolnshire.
The building was coming to its end of life and not fit for purpose for the niche global-exporting company, supplying cutting-edge components to the water, power generation, Offshore and Oil and gas industries around the world.
The scheme establishes a fresh, contemporary identity for the business through the full recladding of the oldest part of the factory and the introduction of bold new signage, creating a confident and modern frontage. Internally, refurbished kitchens, breakout and welfare areas significantly enhance staff facilities, while the installation of a solar PV system supports the client’s sustainability objectives. Collectively, these measures have reportedly reduced energy costs by 44% across all facilities.
A high-performance cladding system wraps the existing structure, delivering improved aesthetics and insulation while safely encapsulating deleterious materials and futureproofing the building fabric - all without interrupting production. New louvres were carefully designed to meet structural requirements by avoiding additional loads on the existing building, and together with the updated signage and cladding, reinforce the factory’s street presence, creating a strong first impression for visiting global clients.
LK2 also supported the client with the acquisition of new adjacent premises including strategic reporting, as well as sequential test and planning compliance reports.
