Take a trip down memory lane, as we revisit Manor Park in Welton
Manor Park Football Ground is home to Welton FC and was delivered by LK2 in September 2012; with a total project cost of circa £600,000. The site went through an incredible transformation and now boasts a 3G Artificial Grass Pitch (AGP) and 4 changing room pavilion to Football Foundation specification.
While Manor Park is celebrating 20 years of existence, Welton FC are celebrating a huge 30 years as a club.
Welton FC Vice Chairman, Garry Crowther, commented “At our recent annual tournament, a visiting parent relayed that Manor Park was one of the best sports facilities in Lincolnshire. The regeneration of Manor Park has been a huge success to all users from Bridge Club to Walking Football for over 50’s. The new facilities have helped us grow tremendously and provide an enhanced provision to all our members”.
Manor Park has exceeded all its financial expectations and now provides a sustainable business operation for the hiring of facilities including the 3G AGP and pavilion. Welton FC has seen their fundraising income increase by 55%. This has allowed the club to reward its players and members with outings to watch Premier League games.
Since the development, Welton FC has thrived and rapidly grown in numbers, increasing from 12 teams to 20 teams. This is a true representation of the success that has come from the refurbishment back in 2012. The site is now recognised as a hub for the local community, through increased usage by members of the local area and hiring of the facility for parties, social events, and sporting activities; all of which helps cement the foundations of sport in the area.
Tom Drew, Head of Sports Development at LK2, said, “It’s great to see a project that LK2 helped bring to fruition become so well used by all in the local community”.
