Local School Buries the Covid Years
A school located north of Lincoln, has buried a future artefact on the construction site of a new office in West Lindsey.
To mark the construction of Studio One, the new hybrid workspace on Deepdale lane in Nettleham, children from a local infant school in the village have been preparing a time capsule to be buried on the site of the new structure.
Teachers and pupils at the school, together with their parents, have been involved in deciding what to put in the time capsule and have chosen a selection of items to represent life in 2022. Collectively, they have carefully selected items that they think would be of interest to someone from the future.
The Nettleham Infant & Nursery School worked with the staff at the project architects, LK2 Architects and the new hybrid workspace, Studio One to create the moment in time project.
Among the items sealed away to be unearthed years from now is a face mask, which reflects the almost unrecognisable journey the world has been on over the past twenty four months.
Head teacher at the school Catherine Jollands said: “The project has really captured our children’s interest. Our students loved getting involved, imagining what life might be like in years to come and deciding on what to share with future generations. Thank-you for letting us be part of something very special at the end of a very different couple of years!”
Director of Nettleham Developments, Dale Lui said: “We are thrilled to have been able to involve Nettleham Infant & Nursery School in this project. Since the idea of Studio One was conceived over five years ago, the local community has always played an integral part of it. From the provision of prestigious office space for businesses, to the local contractors that have been used during the construction process. It has been very interesting to see the treasures that the children have chosen to represent this unusual time period.”
The brand-new hybrid workspace, Studio One was completed this month, with the first two tenants beginning the move into the office.
