Meet the team - Liam Gladwin
In our latest Meet the team installment we chat to Liam Gladwin, who has been with LK2 for almost 7 years...
What is your name and position at LK2?
Liam Gladwin, Senior Architectural Technologist.
What’s your favourite project you’ve worked on so far?
The Buttermarket Shopping Centre in Ipswich. We regenerated a failing shopping centre into a multi-use, retail, leisure and entertainment centre, which is now seen as a ‘destination’ in the centre of town.
What made you want to go into this line of work?
I come from a family full of builders and from a young age, was always interested in the built environment and how buildings are constructed, so Architecture seemed a natural way forward. It also meant I didn’t have to work outside in the cold!
What are the best and worst parts of your job?
The best part is problem solving. We undertake a lot of refurbishment projects, which can throw up some very tricky details and problems which need to be overcome very quickly to ensure there is no delay to the projects programme. The worst must be the paperwork and emails, there’s so many flying about when projects go live, its hard to keep up!
What’s the last film you watched?
The Goonies, an oldie but a goldie (plus a Sunday afternoon guilty pleasure!)
If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
Teleportation! I hate travelling at the best of times, but this would allow you to be anywhere in the world instantaneously…. Great for a weekend away!
What’s your favourite meal/food?
Pizza, it contains most of the main food groups for a balanced diet and can be enjoyed at any time throughout the day! Plus, you can never go wrong when you’re out for a meal and order a pizza!
