Book Lovers Day
In honour of National Book Lovers Day (Wednesday 8th August), we wanted to share a couple of books that some of the team are loving at the moment.
Adam Skidmore, Associate Director at LK2, explains why Susanna Clarke's 'Piranesi' has been so fascinating to read:
'It’s about a man, known as Piranesi, who lives in another dimension called ‘The House’. The House is a an infinite sequence of chambers and staircases that have their own tides, weather and ecosystems. He believes it to be is home, but he actually been trapped in there against his will.
I really like how the novel describes the rooms within the house and takes normal architectural language and turns it into something mysterious and unnerving, creating a surreal and unpredictable environment for the plot to unravel.'
Dale Lui, CEO of the LK2 Group, is an avid fly fisherman, so there's no wonder his favourite book involves his favourite hobby. He explains why Massimo Magliocco's 'Dry Fly Fishing in Fast Water' is one he can enjoy over and over again:
'Italian Style fly fishing (casting), particularly in fast steams, is one of most technically difficult things to achieve with a dry fly. There is little information on the subject, but this book beautifully describes the subtle art of dry fly fishing - Italian style.
Fast water fly fishing is exciting and totally captivating if you have the requisite skills. This book gives great clarity and insight to achieving those skills. I have read it a couple of times now and am still picking bits up.'
