2017/18 – four things that have shaped the last 12 months
The past 12 months have been a whirlwind for our team, from talking about grassroots football in China to spearheading talks with leading sports organisations and local authorities – it’s been one busy year!
We have put our heads together to create a list of the four key things which have taken place in the 12 months, which have shaped and driven LK2 forward.
MIPIM 2018
We started off this year with a bang, heading to the world’s largest property expo MIPIM in March. It was a phenomenal success, and after putting together a strategic approach to tackling the event we retuned with an incredible 168 business cards and attended 120 meetings.
We were overwhelmed by the response we received while at MIPIM and have continued to build relationships with 70% of the 160 leads generated at the event. Alongside this, we were able to get in front of companies working in retail, sport and education as well as local authorities (many of which tracked us down, which was incredibly rewarding!)
CHINA
The past 12 months have also paved the way for our work with the UK Sports Consortium, where we have been drawing on our extensive expertise and experience, to showcase our vision to help China become a world-class footballing nation by improving sports facilities at a grassroots level.
There is also a real cultural shift happening in China, as families are starting to recognise the benefits of sports and recreation time for children in terms of wellbeing and quality of life, and so a gap in the market is emerging for these kinds of facilities.
We are expecting these exciting conversations surrounding sport and leisure in China to continue gaining momentum in the next 12 months, and in fact, we are planning to send a delegation to China in the near future to discuss opportunities.
AWARDS
2017/18 has been peppered with awards success, seeing both our team members and projects being recognised for outstanding performance. We were delighted to have seen our very own Jasmine shortlisted for the Apprentice/ Young Achiever of the Year category at the Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce Lincolnshire Construction and Property Awards 2018.
Another highlight saw our MD Dale being shortlisted for the title of ‘#GoDo Entrepreneur of the Year’ at the 2017 NatWest Great British Entrepreneur Awards. Dale Lui beat off tough competition to make the regional shortlist, with over 1000 businesses entering the awards nationally across a wide range of categories.
Locally Tom Drew brought home the gold, winning the Fastest in Property award at the East Midlands Business Link awards in May 2017. Two of our flagship schemes including our impressive £2.2m redevelopment of BGU's Constance Stewart Hall and our work reinstating Kenwick Park Hotel leisure club in Louth, also scooped a number of awards and shortlists in the past 12 months too.
Carving out our niche
Finally, we have really started to reap the rewards from redefining and developing our brand. We have refreshed our website and really worked to carve out our niche, working across a number of projects ranging from bespoke mixed-use buildings and retail spaces, to the development of town centres and large sports facilities.
We currently have £80m worth of projects on-the-go, and this number is only looking to increase following events like MIPIM and continued growth of our sports and leisure work. We are really excited to be in such a unique position and are really excited to continue working hard in 2018/19!
