LK2 Architects Ltd, along with Capital and Regional and Simons Group as main contractor, have worked to deliver a £17m refurbishment of the Buttermarket Shopping Centre in Ipswich. The huge transformation - which is due to complete later this year - has already welcomed a number of exciting restaurants and brands, while also relocating existing tenants to improved accommodation in different parts of the centre.
The significant number of new restaurants in the centre also highlights an emerging trend for bringing leisure uses into shopping centres which have surplus retail space, in order to create a vibrant retail and leisure destination within a city centre.
