In June 2014, work commenced on a new high profile football pavilion in North London. Islington Council secured an £832,000 grant from the Football Foundation towards their £2,000,000 redevelopment of the pitches on Market Road. This substantial investment has ensured refurbishment of their two existing full size third generation artificial grass pitches, as well as the addition of three new small sided third generation artificial grass pitches and the construction of a dynamic metal clad building, designed by LK2 Architects, which will provide state of the art changing room facilities and high quality Football Turf Pitches for the local community.

This investment will help retain 99 youth teams in the Camden and Islington youth league and 28 teams in the Islington mid week adult 11 v 11 league. Furthermore, the Council’s ambitious football development plan is aiming to grow the number of teams who use the site beyond 200.

This exciting project is due for completion in April 2015.
